Emotional and Spiritual Well Being of Advanced Clinical Practitioners

Bienestar Plenitud is an important part of overall mental, emotional and physical health. It can be associated with a specific religion but it also can be practiced in many different ways. For example, it can be nurtured through prayer, meditation, time in nature and deep listening to oneself. It can be a primary coping resource during difficult times and is a key component of healing in eating disorder residential programs, addiction recovery centers and trauma recovery clinics.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many advanced clinical practitioners (ACPs) have reported low levels of emotional and spiritual well-being. ACPs are the front-line healthcare workers who have been providing critical support during this time of crisis, and they need to be able to find healthy ways of coping with their own stress and fatigue in order to provide the best quality care to patients.

Soulful Living: Integrating Spirituality into Your Everyday Well-Being

Our study aimed to identify potential predictors of emotional and spiritual well-being among ACPs. Using a stepwise linear multiple regression model, we found that resilience and spirituality were significantly related to emotional well being, even when controlling for age, years of experience working in the profession and whether participants had been directly involved in providing care during the pandemic. We also found that spirituality predicted psychological well being directly, as well as indirectly through health-related behaviors, through an indirect relationship.

Ultimately, emotional and spiritual wellness is about having a connection to something larger than yourself that can help guide you through life’s challenges and bring peace of mind. It involves a belief that everything in the universe is interconnected and finding meaning in the events that occur throughout your day.
